Cockatiel Foundation founding president, Linda S. Rubin, is a writer, editor, speaker and avian
educator of 30 years and author of the books, Multiple Bird Households, Ultimate Parrot Guide and
Cockatiel Genetics Made Easy. She is the cockatiel expert columnist for Bird Talk’s website,
BirdChannel.com and is the pet bird columnist for Australia's Talking Birds magazine. She has
more than 200 articles published with an international byline and penned cockatiel columns for
Cage & Aviary Birds (UK), Bird Times, UK Birdkeeper, and AFA Watchbird, among others. She
worked as senior editor for Cockatiel & Parakeet World magazine and her features have appeared
in Bird Talk, Birds USA, Critters USA, American Family & Pet Expo, Popular Cockatiels from BowTie
Press and in over a dozen international journals. She is a recipient of an AFA Silver AVY Award - the
highest awards in US aviculture - for her writing in AFA Watchbird, from the American Federation of
Aviculture, Inc.
Linda currently serves on the board of directors of the American Federation of Aviculture, Inc. as
Northeastern regional director, public relations chair, and AVY awards chair, and is proud to be an
AFA Delegate for CF. She is a certified avian specialist with PIJAC, served as an NCS panel judge
for 23 years, a former NAPS judge, and continues as a certified panel judge with the Society of
Parrot Breeders & Exhibitors, and the Cockatiel Foundation, Inc., judging shows across the US,
Canada and Puerto Rico since 1984. Linda is the facilitator of the first Cockatiel Genetics
Workshops (TM) in the United States during the 1980's, and has been a presenter at 12 national
AFA conventions, including speaking on a legislative panel at the 2007 House of Delegates
meeting. She's presented at the Canadian Parrot Symposium, conferences and private meetings
since 1977 - including Keynote Speaker at the First International Cockatiel Symposium in Brisbane
for the Australian National Cockatiel Society, and in Sydney for the Native Cockatiel Society of
Australia, and as overseas speaker in Melbourne for the Avicultural Society of Australia.
