Avicultural Society of American, Inc. (ASA)
For bird breeding, conservation, restoration, and education- Founded 1927. For bird breeding,
conservation, restoration, and education- Founded 1927 The objects of the Society are the study
of foreign and native birds; the dissemination among the members and public of information for the
care, breeding and feeding of birds in captivity; the perpetuation of species that are threatened
with extinction; and the publication of matters pertaining to aviculture.


Aviculture Microbiology Foundation, Inc.
Our goal is: Develop an educational program in Microbiology for Aviculturist's, Bird Store
Owners and Rescue Organizations. As aviculturist's, we are responsible for making decisions for
our birds regarding their health. Members learn and share with each other clinical microbiology,
bacteriology, mycology, sterilization to rule out bacteria, fungus and other diseases in their own
aviaries. Requirement: The member must have a Sponsor Veterinarian to assist with the final
diagnosis and treatment. This Foundation is to help our birds, not hurt our bird community.


Organization of Professional Aviculturists (OPA)
A Not-For-Profit Corporation in Florida, structured as a 501(c)(6) Trade Association. OPA's
membership is made up primarily of independent aviculturists, but also includes pet store owners,
avicultural workers, representatives of avicultural supply companies, avian veterinarians,
pathologists and technicians, conservation biologists, avian photographers and others who embrace
OPA's guiding principles.OPA's Mission is to promote standards of excellence in the practice of
professional aviculture and to protect the rights of all aviculturists to keep and breed birds, as well
